Request for Workshop Session Proposals

The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) invites you to attend the 2009 Conference on Increasing Diversity in the Health Professions and Championsof Health Professions DiversityAward banquet on June 15-16, 2009 at the Westin Los Angeles Airport, Los Angeles, California.

TCWF encourages grantees and other leaders in promoting diversity in the health professions to submit a proposal to conduct a workshop session at the conference on June 15th or 16th. TCWF welcomes session proposals on all topics related to diversity in the health professions. Proposals will be evaluated on how well the session objectives and design contribute to the field; exhibit creativity or innovation; and demonstrate relevance to current issues, trends and strategies.

Even if you do not want to present a session yourself, we still appreciate your input. If you would like to suggest a session topic or a presenter we should consider, please let us know.


Workshop Session Proposal Guidelines

The 2009 Conference on Increasing Diversity in the Health Professions planning team seeks proposals for workshop sessions that address issues in the field of diversity in the health professions. Examples include:

¨ Promising Practices / Effective Organization Strategies
¨ Policy Development / Advocacy
¨ Skill Building (e.g., program design and evaluation, public policy, organizational-level advocacy, etc.)
¨ Affinity Group (e.g., community colleges, pipeline programs, nursing, physician training, etc.)
¨ Research / Data
¨ Issues that Link Sectors (e.g., articulation agreements, school – community program coordination, region level planning and coordination, etc.)

TCWF seeks workshops in a variety of formats including: individual, team, or panel presentations; facilitated discussion; consensus building/priority setting; information sharing; and skills building/training. Other topics and approaches are welcome and will receive full consideration. Proposals should reflect a workshop duration of one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes.

Your proposal should include the following information and should not exceed a total length of one page:

¨ Title of the session
¨ Presenter(s) / facilitator(s) name, title, organization or affiliation, mailing address, phone and e-mail
¨ Description of the workshop session (250 word [about ½ page] maximum length) that describes session objectives and key issues, format, presentation method (e.g., PowerPoint), and handouts
¨ Presenter(s) one paragraph professional biography (50 word maximum length)
