The CSULB Minority Research Infrastructure Support Program (MRISP) and Career Opportunities in Research (COR) Program would like to invite the CSUSB RIMI Program to the upcoming "Southern California MRISP-COR Conference on Mental Health Disparities" to be held at the CSULB Pointe on Friday February 20, 2009.
The conference is organized by the MRISP and COR programs at CSULB,CSUN, and SDSU, and is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the Department of Psychology at CSULB. The goal of this conference is to bring together local researchers (and their students) from the Southern California area interested in health and mental health disparities research.
The conference program is designed to create an intimate forum that fosters a dynamic exchange of ideas about various aspects of conducting disparities research. Interactive session topics include:
The keynote presentation will be made by Mark Padilla, Ph.D. from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Dr. Padilla, a medical anthropologist, will set the tone of the conference by addressing the methodological and conceptual challenges to cross-cultural health disparities research. There will also be a poster session showcasing faculty and student work.

Priority registration will be accepted via FAX and e-mail until Friday 2/13. On-site registration will be available if space permits as we have limited seating capacity (maximum 100). General registration fee is $15 (includes continental breakfast and lunch).
